The space: Looking to remodel their Grand Avenue location to boast a more high-end experience, this Kinderberry Hill expansion was one of the most complex projects we’ve taken on to date. The existing facility was comprised of three structures, constructed at different times since the early 1900s, all of which needed to be modernized for this project.

Our work: As the plans for this space progressed, our team put their extensive problem-solving skills to work.   The scope of work for the project involved a complete overhaul of the existing facility including significant structural modifications; a new sprinkler system; all new plumbing, mechanical, and electrical system; construction of a three-story addition to the north side of the building; installation of an elevator; second floor addition; and the addition of a full playground on the roof over the east portion of the building.

The results: The exterior of this building is amazing. Not only did the architect work in really cool finishes like stucco and custom brickwork that give the facility a real St. Paul feel, there’s intentionally a lot of natural light in all of the classrooms due to the vast number of windows that were added throughout the building.

To bring the facility to its gorgeous end result, many of the lighting and soft goods were chosen to make the center feel more like a home than a daycare. It’s a unique facility that fits the area, and we are proud to have been able to bring our client’s vision to life.
