A local automotive repair company with six locations, TGK Automotive Specialists approached us to build their flagship store in Hugo, where the owners live. Dedicated to supporting the growth in their local area, Troy and Alana wanted the company headquarters to reflect their commitment to the community.
The space: The configuration for this shop is quite unique. Typical auto repair facilities have several side-by-side drive-in bays with an overhead door for each bay. Our client came up with a unique L-configuration for the shop traffic that allows for more usable space and increased energy efficiency, which our architect partner, KOMA, perfected.
Our work: Construction on this building happened during a very wet fall season, which complicated the construction schedule. The rain coincided with foundation work and shell erection -the least opportune time for inclement weather. We should have lost weeks on the schedule, but through diligent planning and communication between our internal team and our sub-contractors, we were able to complete the project with only about a week of extra time – our client was thrilled!
The results: Quite a bit of the exterior of the new facility was precast, but you’d never know it by the end results. Not only is the front façade incredibly high-end, the interior finishes make you feel more like you’re at a fancy car dealership than an independent auto repair facility. Even the stone veneer reception desks are something you might see at a high-end restaurant.
The upgrades do not stop at the office area. An epoxy floor runs throughout the shop, completing the look and feel of the operation. We’re also digging the amount of natural light that flows throughout the facility, thanks to the high windows all around the building.
