Broadway Liquor Outlet has been serving thirsty customers in their Minneapolis location since 1948, but their space was on a city parcel that was totally wiped out by the North Minneapolis tornado in 2011. In 2016, we served as the general contractor on the build-out of the brand’s new retail space.

The brand’s former retail space was on a city parcel. To revitalize the tornado-stricken parcel, the developer and city wanted to move forward with plans to use the parcel for a mixed-use development called Broadway Flats.

Our Approach
Designed to provide much-needed workforce housing in the neighborhood, Broadway Flats boasts four floors of condos sitting on top of 19,000 square feed of retail space. Broadway Liquor Outlet occupies more than half – 9,000 square feet – of that retail space.

The Results
We were able to create a visually pleasing bled of modern and industrial-chic elements to the space. One of our favorite aspects of this final project is the space’s exposed concrete and steel building structure. Customers also love the unique mezzanine area, which serves as office space for the store’s owner.
